Article: Artichokes and Your Health

Here's the website for Artichokes and Health: http://www.epicureantable.com/articles/aartichoke.htm
I wanted to post it here too!

Kicking Old Habits

This is an area I'm working at. Habits like munching while I'm working on my story writing or watching T.V. relaxing in the evening. I like what they said in this article in the Nat'l Right to Life - Today's News and Views.
"Can You Become a Creature of New Habits?" In a nutshell, the answer is "yes," according to Janet Rae-Dupree.
Don't expect to kick old habits, she writes; they are there to stay. But creating parallel pathways in your brain--new habits--allows you to bypass the old ruts. In fact, she argues, "the more new things we try -- the more we step outside our comfort zone -- the more inherently creative we become, both in the workplace and in our personal lives."
Good things to remember when you are trying to change your lifestyle and create new, healthier choices.
Today I am down to 135lbs and still going. My goal weight is 125lbs. That's where I was when I finished Body by God. It was a good feeling weight for me. I know if I keep exercising and choose veggies and low carb munchies in the afternoon and evening, I can do it. Keep reading lables. Make more natural choices with olive oil or expeller pressed canola oil, evaporated cane juice, (Not High Fructose Corn Syrup) and lower sodium choices. Try new vegetables and Google what you don't know how to prepare.
Some Good snacks for afternoon and evening:
Almonds, Walnuts, (best choices, but just nuts are good) Rutabaga sticks, celery, Red, Green, and Yellow Peppers, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Soy nuts, sunflower seeds, Jerky (lower sodium and no hyd. oil or corn syrup), unsweetened coconut.

Only Beginning

So glad your blog finally passed the spam test! :)

I feel like my weight loss journey is only beginning. My fitness journey...that started a few months ago and has been going strong. Discouragingly though, I haven't lost a single pound despite my regular habit of exercise and my attempts to make smarter eating choices. I need to hunker down and really develop discipline in what I eat.

Amazing! I'm on my 4th day and I feel lighter! I weighed myself today and I'm 2 lbs lighter. WaHoo!! I have not been able to drop in months. I feel like the food I'm putting into my body is working for my body the way it should be, for nutrition, not just to fill up. Love it!!
